Malaysian Boy Music Video

A remixed Malaysian (Malay, Chinese and Tamil) version of the popular Kanye West & Estelle song "American Boy", specifically composed for the youth of Malaysia.
This video takes you on a journey of this beautiful country, from rural to urban, across different landscapes and people. The strong connection between Malaysians of different races and cultures convey a single message of 'united we stand'.

We were given the opportunity to pitch for this video and a timeline of only 10 days to shoot, edit and put it on-air on the eve of the Malaysian Independence day. Looking at our vision of the vastness for this video, it looked impossible but with clever production planning and great team work, my team delivered a real gift to all Malaysians on the eve on Merdeka.

"Selamat Hari Merdeka Malaysia" !

ORE Malaysia

ORE Malaysia which is the title of the song is a direct translation of 1 Malaysia. MK, who has envisioned and brought together a team of talent that contributed to the birth of this song, has injected the perspective of 1 Malaysia as he sees it, in every possible aspect of the song. Though the question should arise as to what's so unique about this track? Aside from its beat and lyrics which promotes racial integration, this song was sung in Tamil by three artists of three different race and ethnicity. If that is not a reason good enough to grant this song a different taste, MK has also brought together 10 musicians of different races to play instruments that depict the culture of the 3 main races in Malaysia as the song houses the wealth of these instruments that are normally never played together in 1 song.

ORE Malaysia comprises of 10 key instruments to create a platform in which the different cultures may unite as 1.

Amongst the instruments used in this song are:

Muhardiman.B.Ismail on the Flute
Lim Hui Chieh on the Gu Zheng
Pangasaasanii Gowrisan on the Violin
Khazrin Yani Mohd Raya on the Gambus
Chong Koi Min on the Erhu
Kumar Karthigesu on the Sitar
Steve Thornton on the Latin Percussion
Prakash Kandasamy on the Tabla
Mohd Shah Nizam Azis on the Kompang
Jay on the Keyboard

The melody of ORE MALAYSIA was composed by Jerry Retnam while the music arrangement was done by our very own highly celebrated Jay & MK himself. Lyrics were written by J.S Parameswara & MK.Award winning audio engineer, Peter Chong steps in to give the song their special touch in mixing and mastering.

'Ondraga Valvethu...Yendrendum Siranthathe' so is a line in ORE MALAYSIA which clearly states that living as 1 is for always the way to move forward.

Having won the Key Unity award at the annual VIMA (Voice of Independent Music Awards) 2010, ORE MALAYSIA is set to soothe and steal the hearts of its listener with it's thumb thumping tempo and beat, for this is Unity & Harmony through Melody.
